Astral Projection - How To Project - Technique Using Melatonin
90Astral Projection How-To Guide
So you want to know how to experience astral projection? Then you're in the right place. This quick, but detailed guide will teach you the MOST effective technique that usually works with a 50% success rate -- even in untrained individuals. What I am trying to say is that even if you have no experience with lucid dreaming or astral projection, you STILL have a 50% chance of success on your FIRST try with the technique I will present to you in this tutorial.
Sure, there are other techniques like R.O.P.E. that involve opening chakras and entering a trance, but those usually only have about a 5% success rate for beginners and only a minuscule 10% success rate for even advanced practitioners.
Forget all that mumbo jumbo and get ready to have your socks blown off by how easy and effective the below astral projection method is.
Step 1 - Go to bed no later than 9:00 PM
Yes, I know that is an early bed time, but how badly do you want to get out of your body and experience some hard core astral projection? This just might be the hardest part of the whole technique. So many people struggle with getting a good bed time. However, due to our body and mind's natural biological rhythms, you'll more than double your chances of astral projection by going to bed at around 8:00, but no later than 9:00 PM. I wouldn't go to bed any earlier than 8:00 either, cause that will mess it up just as bad.
Just think of it this way. Not only are you doubling your chances of a successful astral projection, but a 9:00 PM bed time is extremely healthy for your physical body.
If your body is currently in the cycle of going to bed at later than 9:00, try supplementing with some melatonin. I take Source Naturals Timed Release Melatonin about an hour before I go to bed on the nights I intend to do astral projection. It works great. When I use just a single tablet of that stuff, I am usually out cold within 5 minutes of laying down. I'll post a link to snag a cheap bottle for any of you who think you would benefit from this. I posted it in the upper right hand corner of this block of text.
Step 2 - Wake Up After 5 Hours of Sleep
Before you go to bed, no later than 9:00 PM, set your alarm clock to go off within 5 hours of the time you think you will have fallen asleep by. I underlined that last part, because it is important. If it takes you a full hour just to fall asleep, then your body will only have gotten 4 hours of rest and it won't be in prime condition to perform astral projection.
After getting a full 5 hours of sleep, wake up and get out of bed. Now is the time to pee, if you think you need to. Do NOT eat or drink anything, as that will make it more difficult to get out of body.
Do not turn on any lights as that will cause your body to release serotonin, which will in turn make it too hard to go back to sleep at the end of an hour. If it's in the summer time and the sun rises early where you are, try to stay in a room where there is not an ounce of sunlight leaking in. You need to keep your body and eyes in as much darkness as is possible during this hour.
Don't do any physical stimulation of any kind during this hour long period of wakefulness either. You should be sitting up, not laying down, and the only type of stimulation you should have is mental stimulation. If you have math homework, I recommend doing that in as minimum amount of lighting as possible. The idea here is to stimulate your mind and completely wake it up, while keeping your body on the verge of sleep. I suggest going online and reading about astral projection during this hour, as not only will it stimulate your mind and wake it up, but it will get your mind saturated in thoughts of astral projection and this will only help your chances of success.
The light from your computer screen shouldn't hamper your chances of success too much.
Step 3 - Do Pot Shaped Breathing & The Lotus Technique
This is where the real meat of this technique lies. After an hour of wakefulness, lay back down in bed, on your back. Make sure your clothing is loose and you are as comfortable as possible. If it is too cold, grab an extra blanket. If it's too hot, lose the blanket. Whatever you do, just ensure your comfort levels are at their maximum.
Pot Shaped Breathing
Now, rest the palms of your hands on your belly so that the tips of your thumbs meet just above your belly button and your index fingers are touching about 2 to 3 inches below your belly button.
Inhale deeply to the count of four. Feel your belly filling up and bulging into your hands, as if it is forming the shape of a small bowl or pot. Hold for the count of two seconds and exhale for the count of eight seconds.
Breathe like this 21 times. Be sure to remember to keep count.
The Lotus Technique
After you have finished inhaling and exhaling 21 times with Pot Shape Breathing, rest your hands comfortably wherever you would like. You can keep them on your belly if that's where they are the most comfortable.
Now, imagine in the base of your throat there is a lotus flower, like the picture in the upper right hand corner of this section of the article. However, instead of it being pink, imagine it is bright red. In fact, imagine it is GLOWING bright red, illuminating all of your thoughts and exposing them to be dream-like and unreal.
Each time you exhale, exhale to the sound of 'ahhhhhh' and imagine that the sound is coming from the lotus flower in the base of your throat.
Now, all you need to do from this point on is keep your attention on the lotus flower which is illuminating all of your thoughts and experience to be nothing but a dream. Continue breathing to the sound of a gentle 'ahhhhh' and focusing on the glowing red lotus in your throat.
Eventually, you will begin to lose awareness of your physical body. If you keep your focus calmly and gently locked onto the lotus, you will find your mind remains completely awake while your body falls asleep.
Eventually, as your body begins to fall asleep, you will start to be able to see through your closed eyelids. At this point, you will also notice that your body has become completely paralyzed. Do NOT panic or you will wake up and ruin the entire astral projection. There is nothing to worry about with sleep paralysis. Normally, it happens to every single person, every night on their way to sleep, but most people are completely unconscious by that time.
Just stay calm and keep your focus gently present on the glowing red lotus in your throat. Eventually your body will fall completely asleep and you will feel your spirit or astral body gently 'buzz' or vibrate out of your physical body and you'll be floating above your sleeping self.
To Wrap Things Up
If this is your first time successfully astral projecting, once you get out of body stay calm and relaxed. Look around your bedroom and look back at your sleeping self. It is REALLY fun to look at your own body from a third person perspective. Try it out!
For the first time out of body, don't travel too terribly far or you may risk losing conscious awareness and forgetting the whole experience all together. Just float around your room and take careful notes of exactly where everything is. After about 5 minutes, push your way back inside your body. Once you wake up, write down every detail about your experience as quick as you can or you may end up forgetting it!

Great breathing technoques but how do u get bak in your body?
I have not mastered this but I want to. I have Sleep Paralysis and floated once, freaked out and got sucked back in. However, my dad just lays back down inside his body.
I've also had some other weird sensations happen when awake. I wasn't even in Sleep Paralysis. Once I was lying in bed and felt a pressure moving from my feet all the way up my entire body at a very slow rate. After it moved all the way to my shoulders it started over once again. Then I got up. The next time that it happened the sensation moved rapidly. Another time I was lying on my back and the covers suddenly sucked to my body and then slowly released. And yet another time I felt heavy walking on the bed behind me that felt like it suddenly jumped off the bed. After it jumped off I immediately got up and checked the room...nothing. Weird part is I was awake when all of these things happened and not in Sleep Paralysis. Have you had any thing like this happen to you?

Hey, great hub on astral projection! While I have definitely had outer body experiences, I have never quite experienced them the way the books and others say they happen, but this detailed account on how to do it is amazing! Great breathing techniques and tips here. Voted up and useful!
